Maximum Security On Track for Penn Derby

Wednesday, 4th September 2019

In US racing news, Maximum Security (New Years Day-Lil Indy, by Anasheed) is on target for the Gr1 Pennsylvania Derby to be held on September 21, reports horseracingnation.com. Trainer Jason Servis plans to ship the horse over to Parx Racing on Friday so Maximum Security can get a feel for the track where the Derby will be held, before sending him home to New Jersey's Monmouth Park, a trip that will take just over an hour each way. Servis plans to do this trip twice prior to the Derby. Maximum Security hasn't run since he won the Gr1 Haskell Invitational Stakes on July 20, and was going to run in Saratoga's Gr1 Travers Stakes. It was tough – a hot day – and he ran hard," Servis said. "I think he was glad I didn't run him back in the Travers. I would say he is starting to get some good colour to him. We still have to get through some things, but we are looking forward to the race (Pennsylvania Derby)." Maximum Security has won five of his seven starts to date.
