Dalasan Heading to Danehill Stakes

Wednesday, 4th September 2019

Jockey Raquel Clark will retain the ride on exciting 3YO colt Dalasan (Dalakhani-Khandallah, by Kitten's Joy) when he heads to the Gr2 Danehill Stakes on September 12. Trainer Leon Macdonald told racing.com, "Raquel is three from three on him now so I think she deserves her opportunity on the big stage. She continues to listen, learn and improve and she gets on with him well, so it's an exciting opportunity for her." Macdonald trains Dalasan in partnership with son-in-law Andrew Gluyas, and the colt had his form franked when Scales of Justice (Not A Single Doubt-Beymatilla, by Umatilla) won the Gr1 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield last Saturday. "I thought he was a great each-way option going into the race (Spring Stakes), but I didn't think we could beat the two Gr1 winners in Scales Of Justice and Despatch. The form lines have certainly been franked now," said Macdonald. Dalasan beat Scales of Justice when he won first up in the Gr3 Spring Stakes over 1200m on August 17, and the colt has won three of his four starts, running second in the Gr2 VRC Sires' Produce at his only miss.
