Darley's Rasmussen Cross Appears Inspired

Tuesday, 3rd September 2019

The Rasmussen factor, in-breeding to superior females, offers an intriguing element to a pedigree. Although the benefits can supposedly be amplified in later generations of a damline, the impact can also be immediate, and profound. Godolphin's exciting European 2YO colt Victor Ludorum (Shamardal-Antiquities, by Kaldouvenees) has made a don't-argue statement about his pedigree by slamming his rivals in debut by sauntering to an effortless 3.5-length debut victory at Longchamp in the Prix de Fontenoy (1600m). By Darley's sensational stallion Shamardal, already the source of juvenile fire-power for Godolphin this season, Victor Ludorum boasts a 3 x 3 cross of influential broodmare Helen Street, winner of the Gr1 Irish Oaks. Her daughters Helsinki (dam of Sharmadal) and Historian (dam of the winner's dam Antiquities) are half-sisters to Street Cry, Darley's ill-fated World Champion whose long list of world-class progeny is headed by the incomparable Winx. Trained by Andre Fabre, Victor udorum holds an entry for France's €400,000 Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Legardere (1600m), formerly known as the Grand Criterium.
