Danzdanzdance Earns Return Trip To Australia

Tuesday, 3rd September 2019

New Zealand trainers Chris Gibbs and Michelle Bradley were suitably impressed with the resuming performance of Danzdanzdance (Mastercraftsman-Night Danza, by Danzero) on Saturday in the Gr1 Tarzino Trophy (1400m) at Hastings, where she finished a respectable fifth behind superstar mare Melody Belle. As such, their plans to return to Australia for a spring campaign remain in place, but with the flashy grey's wet track form in mind are considering a visit to Sydney first. "We know she can handle the wet. We'll probably be guided by the weather," Gibbs told NZ Racing Desk, relaying the possibility of starting the 5YO in the Gr1 Colgate Optic White Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on September 21, with the Gr2 Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley the Victorian option. "If it keeps raining in Sydney she could stay on longer [there]. There are races two weeks apart that she could run in. It would be nice to get a win under her belt and it doesn't have to be a Group One." Danzdanzdance has two Sydney trips behind her already, most successfully claiming a third in the Gr1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) last year, and considering how well Melody Belle's form has held up in Australia, is a visitor well worth taking note of. Despite a nomination for the Gr1 Cox Plate (2040m) in place, Gibbs isn't counting his chickens early. "She would have to be really flying and winning well to consider that."
