Whyte Gets A Dream Hong Kong Start

Monday, 2nd September 2019

Douglas Whyte, aka the Durban Demon, has had a rewarding start to his training career in Hong Kong by training a winner, Adonis, from just his second starter at Sha Tin on Sunday. The competitive former hoop, who collected a staggering 13 Hong Kong Jockey titles, had put in a large amount of groundwork before starting his new role by travelling the world to spend time learning from the best. His local popularity, coupled with his thorough approach, ensured Whyte’s stable kicked off with a good number of horse – almost fifty – and the immediate result has him tickled pink. Looking every bit like the cat that stole the crème, after Reagan Baylis got Adonis home, Whyte exclaimed, “It’s phenomenal, it’s fantastic!”
