Bowman Returns A Winner

Monday, 8th July 2019

Leading jockey Hugh Bowman has made a superb return atop the victorious Sir Elton at Saturday’s meet at Rosehill Gardens, Sydney. In his first ride in over 2 months, following Winx’s retriement after her Queen Elizabeth stakes victory, Bowman scored a popular win in the Everest Carnival Handicap. Sir Elton beat off  Gimme Shelter and Dio D’Oro by over two lengths on the 1000m track. After his win, Bowman said that it was a relief, given that the horse already had such a big reputation. According to AAP, he acknowledged, "It was nice to come back on an odds-on favourite… He's certainly got a fine future judging by what I just felt." Sir Elton is trained on the NSW Central Coast by Adam Duggan, and after his win, an obviously thrilled Duggan said had no doubt the best was still to come from the winner, commenting,"He didn't get it all his own way there today… he did a bit of work and it was a good win, I think there's more to come with him."
