Ballydoyle Ships Classy Trio To US East Coast
Fresh off saddling up another Gr1 trifecta in last weekend's Irish Derby, Ballydoyle trainer Aidan O'Brien has shipped a contingent of three high class horses to New York ahead of next weekend's first leg of the United States' new Turf Triple series. According to horseracingnation.com, the trio comprises Cape of Good Hope (see below) and Blenheim Palace for the $1 million Gr1 Belmont Derby Invitational, and Just Wonderful who will run in the $750,000 Gr1 Belmont Oaks Invitational. A full-brother to four-time Gr1 winner Churchill, Blenheim Palac will be backing up just a week after finishing runner-up in the Gr3 Derby Trial at Leopardstown. Cape of Good Hope is equally well-bred, being a full-brother to multiple Gr1-winning globe-trotting Swettenham Stud shuttler Highland Reel, whose dam Hveger is a daughter of Australian blue hen Circles of Gold.
