Seven Figure Hong Kong Sale For One-Time Winner
Despite being the winner of just one race from his first 10 starts, Arrogant has been the subject of a seven figure deal to continue his racing career in Hong Kong, reports racing.com. Trained by Michael Moroney, 3YO colt Arrogant (Ocean Park-Charmeuse, by O’Reilly) will do his future racing under the tutelage of trainer Caspar Fownes. The deal was brokered by Moroney’s bloodstock agent brother Paul who originally purchased Arrogant as a yearling for $130,000 from the draft of Valachi Downs at the 2017 NZB National Yearling Sales Series. Placed in the Gr2 Waikato Guineas, Arrogant finished fourth in the Gr1 New Zealand Derby before giving star 3YO The Autumn Sun a fright in the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas see below). Other high profile 3YOs that will now call Hong Kong home are Extra Brut, Global Exchange and Surely Sacred.
