Regent Street Could Be Vocabulary's Best

Wednesday, 8th May 2019

Based on what he showed at Newcastle yesterday, nicely-bred 3YO Snitzel colt Regent Street has the potential to furnish into the best of dual Gr1 runner-up sprinting mare Vocabulary (Encosta de Lago-Lady Linguist, by Marauding). Runner-up on debut over 1400m at Randwick, not an easy track to do so first-up at at any time, the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt was up against some handy opposition for his second attempt, but was always on top of betting markets. Just into the red earlier in the day, the money just kept coming until he hit $1.40 at the jump. After finding the lead and controlling the tempo, Regent Street was clearly in command at the 200m mark before opening up for a win that suggests he’ll soon be back in the city for bigger assignments. He is a 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast graduate where he sold for $150,000 from the draft of Redbank North/Huntworth Stud, with the latter having raced his Gr2-winning dam who’s has already left four individual metropolitan winners.
