In the second of Morphettville’s Gr1 races in Adelaide, ill-fated Yarraman Park stallion Hinchinbrook was another sire to celebrate a posthumous Gr1 triumph when favoured 5YO mare Spright won by an authoritative 1.3-length for NSW trainer Garry Frazer in the $600,000 TAB Classic Sangster Stakes (1200m). Jagged to the back of the field almost immediately after the start despite pinging the gates on terms, jockey Damien Oliver added to his sparkling big race record with a derring-do ride that required the winner to capitalise on her renowned closing sectionals. While her supporters might have had their hearts in their mouths, Oliver had the runner-up Cool Passion covered with something to spare.  Now one of the most valuable mares in training, Spright’s inaugural Gr1 win improved her record to 6 wins (including the Gr3 Crown Resorts Plate, Gr3 Star Kingdom Handicap, Gr3 WJ Healy Stakes & Listed Brian Crowley Stakes, & 9 placings (Gr1 AJ Moir Stakes, Gr1 William Reid Stakes, Gr2 Light Fingers Stakes, Gr3 Percy Sykes Stakes, Gr3 Wenona Girl Handicap, Listed Lonhro Plate & Listed Inglis 3YO Guineas) from 29 starts. The dual Inglis sales graduate became the fourteenth individual Inglis graduate to win a Gr1 race this season.
