O'Sullivan's Misfit Raids HK From The Mountains

Wednesday, 17th April 2019

Hong Kong trainer Paul O’Sullivan believes the career of Oriental Elite (Star Witness-Bail Out, by Charge Forward) would be over if it wasn’t for the new Conghua facility on mainland China. The 5YO gelding has had only nine starts (2 wins and a third, HK$1.127m) in his career, and his previous start was back in February after an eight-month lay-off prior to that. The gelding now resides permanently at Conghua, arriving only in Hong Kong for each start. He will run tonight (Wednesday 17 April) in the Class Four Kowloon Handicap over 1200m where he will look to pick up his second win in succession. “That’s his home, he lives in the mountains,” O’Sullivan jokingly told the South China Morning Post. Oriental Elite was sold out of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for $85,000 in 2015, and his dam is a daughter of Gr2 winner Pay My Bail (Justice Prevails).
