On a glorious day at Randwick, ill-fated Widden Stud stallion Sebring (More Than Ready-Purespeed, by Flying Spur) added a Group race success when 3YO colt Ringerdingding (Sebring-Maybe I, by Red Ransom) found a gap at the right time to land a 0.2-length victory for trainer Chris Waller in the $200,000 Gr3 Carbine Club  Stakes (1600m), defeating unfancied 3YO gelding Shuffle Up & favoured colt Dealmaker (also trained by Waller). The subject of some hefty bets leading up to race time, the former Darren Weir-trained galloper appeared to be travelling well through the race but traffic soon became a major problem in the stretch, something James McDonald successfully negotiated to put the promising colt in a winning position with 100m to go. Both he and Waller expressed the view that there is a big race somewhere ahead for the winner, whose record improved to 5 wins (including the Gr2 Sandown Guineas & Listed Springtime Handicap) and 3 placings (inlcuding the Gr2 Autumn Stakes & Gr3 Red Anchor Stakes) from 17 starts for $530,645 in earnings.
