In Sydney at Randwick, Yarraman Park's ill-fated Gr3-winning & 4-time Gr1-placed stallion Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock-Snippets' Lass, by Snippets) celebrated a Group 3 victory when 3YO filly Aliferous (Hinchinbrook-Willow, by Woodman) scored a 0.5 length victory for trainer Kris Lees in the $200,000 Quality Tab Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m), defeating 3YO fillies Amangiri & Maracaibo. Ridden cold from barrier 11 by jockey Brenton Avdulla, a strong pace set by eventual runner-up Amangiri set the race up for Aliferous, who weaved through the inside half of the field in the straight and found a beautiful run up the rail to get to the line when it counted. A $130,000 yearling from the Yarraman Park Stud draft at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale in 2017, the filly today improved her record to 3 wins and 3 placings (all at handicap level) from 10 starts for $183,780 in earnings. The race was run amid a controversy surrounding the very late scratching by the stewards (with allegations of suspected raceday treatment) of one of the favourites Princess Jenni (High Chaparral-Glitzabeel, by Zabeel) just before she moved onto the track.
