At Launceston in Tasmania on Sunday, Armidale Stud's Gr3-winning stallion Needs Further (Encosta de Lago-Crowned Glory, by Danehill) added an important feature race success on the eve of the 2019 Magic Millions Tasmania Yearling Sale, when 2YO filly Deroche (Needs Further-Buzzing Along, by Tough Speed) scored a pretty easy 2.25-lengths win for trainer Barry Campbell in the $75,000 Magic Millions Classic (1200m) for 2YOs, defeating fellow filly Gee Gees Darl & the gelding Heaven's Bonus. The race was marred by two fallers at the rear of the field as the field swung for home. Purchased by Denise Martin’s Star Thorougbreds for $61,000 as a yearling at last year’s Magic Millions Tasmania Sale, Deroche just missed last start by a short head when runner-up to Mystical Pursuit in the Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes. She now has 2 wins &2 placings from 4 starts for $112,125 in earnings.
