Change Of Plan For Diamond Hero Written By

Thursday, 14th February 2019

Trainer Graham Begg has made the decision to start Blue Diamond winner Written By (Written Tycoon-Yau Chin, by Tobougg) in this Saturday's Gr1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington, rather than waiting another seven days for the originally targeted Gr1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield, reports AAP. "Going through it all we thought that the Lightning was going to be a bit of a smaller field, but most of the horses in the race were going to be first-up," noted Begg. "He has had a run under his belt and the 1000 metres shouldn't be any problem for him." Half a length second to Bons Away (Bon Hoffa-Villa Albani, by Mossman) when resuming in the Listed WJ Adams Stakes (1000m), the front-running colt might be able to take a sit behind 2YO filly Jedastar (I Am Invincible-Devoirs, by Dehere) which inveigled Begg's decision. "He will still be forward, but he might just have something to cart them along," he said. 'I'm not sure about barrier 11 but there is going to be good speed inside with the 2YO filly who will probably cross to the fence." Begg hasn't ruled out the possibility of a back-up in the following week's Oakleigh Plate.
