Kooringal Stud More Than Ready For New Gr1 Sire

Tuesday, 12th February 2019

Raced successfully throughout his career by Gooree Park, it has been announced that More Than Ready’s dual Gr1-winning five-year-old son Prized Icon will join the Lamont family at their Kooringal Stud property for the 2019 breeding season. Precocious enough to finish third on debut in the Listed Breeders’ Plate behind that season’s eventual Golden Slipper winner Capitalist, followed by four successive placed efforts, Prized Icon broke his maiden in the Listed Fernhill Handicap before victory in the Gr1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick just a week later. At three, the attractive looking colt finished third behind Yankee Rose in the Gr1 Spring Champions Stakes, going on to claim the Gr1 VRC Derby (2500m) two starts later by two-and-a-half-lengths. Although he didn’t win another race, he was top three placed in a further seven black type races including the Gr1 Australian Guineas, Gr1 Ranvet Stakes and the Gr1 Chipping Norton Stakes behind none other than Winx. Out of the Listed-winning, Gr2 placed Danehill mare Tropical Affair, Prized Icon is a brother to the Gr3 winner Romantic Moon as well as a half-brother to the Gr2-winning Zabeel mare Matras. Prized Icon will stand at an introductory fee of $11,000 (inc GST) and join Duporth, Magic Albert and The Brothers War (USA) at the Wagga Wagga-based property.
