Sweet Idea's Sister Dominant In Trial Win
With a $1.8 million price tag, two-year-old filly Evening Slipper appears worth every cent off the back of her impressive barrier trial victory at Royal Randwick on Thursday morning. Purchased from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the Magic Millions by Reg Inglis and Jon Kelly, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained daughter of Snitzel is a full-sister to Gr1 Galaxy Handicap winner Sweet Idea (see below) as well as the dual Gr2-winning, Gr1 placed Showtime. Winning by two-and-a-quarter lengths in a time of 43.35, the quickest for the juveniles over the 735m trip, the filly is a daughter of the Gr3 placed Timber Country mare Flidais, herself a daughter of the dual Gr1 winner Electronic. Raced by Mr JS Kelly, Arrowfield Pastoral Pty Ltd, Mr J W Wiltz and Mr K Yoshida, Evening Slippers finished third on her race track debut in October's Kirkham Plate behind the Gary Portelli-trained Time To Reign (Time For War), an unbeaten half-sister to Portelli's Slipper heroine She Will Reign, while the James Cummings-trained Bivouac (Exceed And Excel) was in second, with both set contest this Saturday's Listed Lonhro Plate (1000m) at Warwick Farm.
