In Perth, at Ascot Racecourse, former Arrowfield shuttler and Kentucky Derby & World Cup winner Animal Kingdom (Leroidesanimaux–Dalicia, by Acatenango) added another Australian stakes-winner when 3YO filly Mystery Miss won by a half-length for trainers Grant & Alana Williams in the $100,000 Listed Belgravia Stakes (1200m) for 3YOs. Despite an alarming betting drift, William Pike guided the Peters Investments-owned filly to victory over the gelding Chix Pic and fellow filly Flirtini. Making her black-type debut, Mystery Miss advanced her record to 3 wins & a placing from 4 starts for $137,240 in earnings. Although finishing out of the placings for the first time in his career, special mention needs to be made of possibly the best named horse in Australia: 3YO gelding Lordhelpmerun (Playing God-Pure Heaven).
