Galileo Filly Breaks Goffs Orby Record
A full-sister to 2018 English Oaks winner Forever Together became the highest priced filly ever sold at the Goffs Orby Sale in Ireland on Wednesday when Phoenix Thoroughbreds outbid Coolmore's MV Magnier to purchase her for €3.2 million. That price tag also makes her the highest priced yearling sold anywhere in the world this year. By Galileo out of the Theatrical mare Green Room (USA), the record breaker is also a sister to Gr1 Newmarket Fillies' Mile winner Together Forever and a half-sister to Gr1 Prix Jean Prat winner Lord Shanakill (Speightstown). "For the mare to be producing three horses of that calibre, she must be very special," Phoenix representative Dermot Farrington told Racing Post. "Phoenix are bedding in families for the future. This filly comes from a Juddmonte family and normally you can't get hold of those. Many years ago Green Room was sold at Tattersalls – it was actually me that bought her back then – and now she's produced three Group 1 winners."
