At Caulfield in Melbourne, 6YO Irish-bred gelding Call Me Handsome (Kodiac-Call Later, by Gone West) became the first Australian stakes winner for his UK sire Kodiac (Danehill) when scoring a well deserved win in the $120,000 Listed Heatherlie Stakes (1700m) for 3YO+, defeating Mr Garcia & Sin To Win. Trained by Peter Gelagotis, Call Me Handsome improved his record to 6 wins and 8 placings from 15 starts for $363,842 in earnings. Stable representative Manny Gelagotis said Call Me Handsome could be aimed at next month's Gr1 Toorak Handicap in Melbourne. "He is a set weights and penalties horse I think so we'll probably have a look at some nice options coming up," he said. "Whether we freshen him and bring him back for the Flemington carnival, we'll just see. The Toorak could be out of his depth a little bit but it depends on what weight he gets, he's a talented horse."
