Kementari Primed for Memsie

Thursday, 30th August 2018

Top-class galloper Kementari is expected to be at his peak for Saturday's $1 million Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield after an ultra impressive track gallop on Tuesday. While trainer James Cummings acknowledges the strength of Kementari's opposition in the weigh-for-age feature, he is satisfied the Lonhro entire is primed to double his Gr1 tally after his Randwick Guineas win in the autumn. "He absolutely flew in a gallop on Tuesday morning," Cummings told Godolphin.com. "Coming into this race he's been really bright. He's come out of his last run in sensational order." The Memsie will be Kementari's third run this campaign having run second to Pierata in the Gr2 Missile Stakes (1200m) at Randwick and fourth to Winx in the Gr1 Winx Stakes (1400m) at the same track twelve days ago. "There's no doubt this is a very powerful weight-for-age field in the Memsie with horses like Vega Magic and Happy Clapper up against us," Cummings said. "I like the fact that he's had experience at Caulfield, he's handled the track, he's trained very well and he's gone forward with each run. So we're looking forward to Saturday's race and expecting a good performance."
