More Sundays Living Up To Rich Pedigree

Tuesday, 21st August 2018

Co-trainer David Hayes has confirmed that boom colt More Sundays will be aimed next month’s Gr1 Golden Rose in Sydney after the blue blood posted a sparkling barrier trial win at Rosehill yesterday. With Kerrin McEvoy aboard, the 3YO son of multiple Champion Australian Sire Fastnet Rock and 8-time Gr1 winning mare More Joyous looked every inch a potential top-flight racehorse when bounding to an effortless 1.8 length win in his 895m heat in 54.02 seconds. Following an eye-catching debut win at Geelong on 6 August, Hayes has mapped out an ambitious plan for the Strawberry Hill Stud (John Singleton) bred and owned More Sundays which he hopes will culminate with starts in the Gr1 Golden Rose and Gr1 Caulfield Guineas in Melbourne. “He goes to a 1300 metre race on the first of September and hopefully his rating will be at a level where he can go to the Golden Rose for his next run,” Hayes told racing.com. “I don't want to race him too much because I want to try and train him for a nice race in Melbourne. If everything is going the right way, we'll go to the Guineas.” More Sundays is just the second foal from More Joyous who has also produced unbeaten Frankel mare Woman.
