Preditor Arrives On Time For Jumbo Jet
Well named Savabeel 6YO Preditor metaphorically jumped out of the trees to kill off his opposition in the S$200,000 Listed Jumbo Jet Trophy (1400m) at Kranji yesterday, reports nzb.co.nz. In a perfectly timed run by in-form Hong Kong-based hoop Michael Poon, Preditor claimed his first black-type win and added another stakes-winner to the list for NZ juggernaut Waikato Stud. Having now won 7 of his 24 career starts and in excess of S$400,000 in prizemoney, the gelding franked the form that saw him closing strongly in both the Chairman's Trophy and S$1.5 million Kranji Mile. Trainer Shane Baertschiger commented post race, “I didn’t think he could win from where he was. He was a long way back and Debt Collector was in front of him. But Matty (Matthew Poon, apprentice jockey) rode a very patient race and got him into the clear at the right time.” Preditor was a NZ$75,000 New Zealand Bloodstock 2014 Premier Sale yearling purchase and is out of the stakes-winning Danasinga mare Bird. Meanwhile, runner-up Debt Collector was a NZ$30,000 NZB 2014 Select Sale graduate before selling for NZ$120,000 at the NZB 2014 Ready To Run Sale.
