Redoute's Choice Son Flies On Debut
Mig Energy, a well-related son of Arrowfield’s multiple champion sire Redoute’s Choice, made a stylish debut when winning the Essendon Mitsubishi Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday. Trained by Brent Stanley and ridden by Luke Currie, the 3YO gelding travelled strongly and was bolting in behind the leaders before exploding through a gap at the top of the straight to score by 0.3 length over All In Brawl & Jimenez. Mig Energy was purchased for $350,000 by Cloud 9 Thoroughbreds at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Segenhoe Stud. Stanley said he believes Mig Energy has the talent to develop into a Caulfield Guineas horse. “He’s a pretty smart horse,” Stanley told racing.com. “We'll probably steer towards the Caulfield Guineas. We've got horses like him and The August going towards that, so fingers crossed they can keep improving. Seven furlongs to a mile will be the ideal distance so he will make the grade and this is the time of year to be in.” From the Peintre Celebre mare Hifalutin, Mig Energy is a direct descendant of top producer Marooned Lady, dam triple Gr1 winner Special Harmony, Gr2 winners King Canute & Redwoldt, and Gr2-placed Singapore galloper Jabal Tarik.
