Ardrossan To Benefit From Bletchingly Run
Trainer Mick Price expects former Kiwi galloper Ardrossan (Redoute's Choice-Miss Argyle, by Iglesia) will need the run when he resumes in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) Caulfield tomorrow. Formerly trained by Stephen Marsh in New Zealand, Ardrossan was undefeated in two starts, including the Listed Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre Stakes (1100m) at Te Rapa, before being transferred to Price. The 3YO was unplaced in the Gr2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) when making his Australian debut in February. "I'm not sure if he can win first-up but I've got to run him as his time has come," Price told AAP. "I worked him with Miss Oklahoma on Tuesday morning on the course proper and she finished in front of him which was a bit of a concern. She's not a bad filly but he gives me the impression he may need the run." Price said Ardrossan said Ardrossan has the talent to win the Bletchingly but that he was coming up against a hot field. "He has been given a soft progression for his return, including two Caulfield jump-outs. He had a good spell and preparation but there's not much I can do but run him," Price said. "He's definitely stronger but I suppose Black Heart Bart, Vega Magic, Voodoo Lad and Jukebox, they're all fit and well and the ones to beat."
