Hayes Bullish About Vega Magic

Wednesday, 25th July 2018

Co-trainer David Hayes has confirmed that high class sprinter Vega Magic will resume in Saturday's Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield as he chases a slot in The Everest later in the spring. Hayes is adamant that the dual Gr1 winner is working as good as ever, and is confident he can reproduce the form that saw him secure an Everest slot last year. "He will run in the Bletchingly and I think he is going very well, but we will find out on Saturday," Hayes told Sky Sports Radio. "We will do what we did last year. After the Bletchingly he will run in the Memsie (Gr1 Memsie Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield) and he should be perfect." Hayes added: "We are quite relaxed because I'm sure if the horse is in form someone will grab him. I know there are only a few slots available...but at this time last year he didn't have a slot either."
