Bowness Stud's Myboycharlie Adds US Gr1
At Saratoga racecourse in the US, Bowness Stud's Gr1-winning stallion Myboycharlie (Danetime-Dulceata, by Rousillon) celebrated an elite race success when 4YO Irish-bred mare Sistercharlie (Myboycharlie-Starlet's Sister, by Galileo) finished powerfully to score a nose win in the US$500,000 Group 1 Diana Stakes (9 furlongs), defeating Ultra Brat & A Raving Beauty. Sistercharlie's victory was all the more special given she had to overcome a bout of pneumonia after finishing second in the Belmont Oaks on her US debut last July. "It was challenging," said trainer Chad Brown. "She was pretty sick with a lung infection. Fortunately, we were able to overcome it with an excellent team of veterinarians. We gave her all the time she needed and developed her along the way. Brown added: "This isn't her ideal distance, nor was the mile and a sixteenth in the Jenny Wiley. But just with sheer class, heart, and ability, she can do it." Sistercharlie improved her record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 Jenny Wiley Stakes) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 Prix de Diane & Gr1 Belmont Oaks) from 9 starts for €974,878 in earnings.
