Big Stage Awaits Our Libretto

Thursday, 19th July 2018

Melbourne trainer Grahame Begg is predicting a bright future for former Kiwi mare Our Libretto after she scored a stylish debut win at Sandown yesterday. Owned by Jonathan Munz's Pinecliff Racing, Our Libretto was having her first run in a year when bounding to a impressive 2.75 length win in a set weights fillies & mares maiden over 1400 metres. By O'Reilly out of the stakes-winning Zabeel mare Etoile Due Nord, Our Libretto is a half-sister to Gr3 Hobart & Launceston Cup winner Epingle and cost $400,000 at the 2015 NZB Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Waikato Stud. "She's been in work for some months. She had quite a few issues in New Zealand and we've just given her plenty of time," Begg told racing.com. "She's bred to get over a lot more ground but that was a very strong win today." Begg added: "I think she is a really exciting prospect going forward and if she can race up to her pedigree we can make some nice plans with her. She has a lot of upside...The spring has come a bit early for her but I think there is a lot to look forward to with her next year."
