Parkes Happy With Hiflyer

Tuesday, 17th July 2018

Johnathan Parkes was more than happy with Hiflyer’s Australian debut when fourth in last Saturday’s Listed Winter Stakes (1400m) at Randwick, reports NZ Racing Desk. "I thought it was a god run under the weight (59.5kg). He’s not an overly big horse and there’s a bit of improvement in him. He was doing his best work late," said Parkes. Parkes added: "I said to Peter [trainer Peter Lock] that he’ll be a lot better-suited over there to a mile when you don’t have to ask him for too much early." Bred and part-owned by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan, Hiflyer is by Tavistock out of the Stravinsky mare Lady Firebird and hails from the outstanding female family of champion Australian racehorse Might And Power and 4-time Gr1 winning filly Mosheen.
