Mended Hey Doc Looking Good for Spring
Dual Group 1 winner Hey Doc has fully recovered from an injury that forced him to miss the autumn, according to his trainer Tony McEvoy. The Australian Guineas (1600m) and Manikato Stakes (1200m) winner hasn't raced since straining his pectoral muscles when unplaced in the Gr1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington in February. "He's been back at Flemington for a week after doing his first five weeks in Adelaide and he's beautiful," McEvoy told racenet. "I gave him a longer base prep because he tore his pectoral muscles which appear to have healed perfectly thankfully. He's up to doing even time and we'll look at races at Moonee Valley. He loves it there and there's some nice races." McEvoy added: "The Manikato in October looks one race for him but you might see him in the McEwen or the Moir. He's got to race at that level now as a Group One winner."
