McEvoy Hoping For Booming Spring

Tuesday, 17th July 2018

Untapped filly Kinky Boom has the scope to develop into a Group 1 horse in the spring, according to her trainer Tony McEvoy. The 2YO daughter of Eureka Stud's first season sire sensation Spirit Of Boom made an eye-catching debut when winning the Listed (R) Inglis Premier (1200m) at Caulfield in February, before finishing well beaten at her only other start in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes. "She's coming along nicely and she'll likely kick off in the Quezette. I'm not quite sure how far she'll get distance wise. I think I'll be looking at races 1200 to 1400 metres for her," McEvoy told racenet. "She'll tell us if she wants to go to the Thousand Guineas [Gr1] or not but a race like the Golden Rose [Gr1] could also be an ideal race for her." The Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) for 3YO fillies will be run at Caulfield on 19 August.
