Beauty Generation Named HK HOTY
Beauty Generation was named the Hong Kong Horse of the Year at a glitzy ceremony held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Friday night. Trained by John Moore, the 5YO New Zealand-bred gelding won three Group 1 races last season, namely the Gr1 Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup, Gr1 Hong Kong Mile and Gr1 Champions Mile. Purchased for $60,000 at the 2014 NZB Select Yearling Sale, Beauty Generation (who raced as Montaigne in Australia) now boasts a record of 9 wins and 7 placings from 22 starts for $7,021,308 in earnings. He was also placed in the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas & Hong Kong Derby. The award gave Moore his sixth consecutive HOTY title. "It's a big relief. There was a lot of competition coming from Pakistan Star, but he put the writing on the wall with his achievements through the season," Moore told the South China Morning Post. "I brought him back from what we thought was a 2000 metre horse and made him a miler and here we are enjoying the fruits of all his successes on the stage of Horse of the Year – it's amazing."
