Fireworks On Opening Day Of July Sale

Thursday, 12th July 2018

The Tattersalls July Sale got underway overnight with a total of 208 lots selling for 5,407,000 guineas at an average of 25,995 guineas and a median of 9,000 guineas. Well-bred fillies were in demand with 11 lots selling for 100,000 guineas or more. The top lot of the opening session was 3YO Irish-bred filly Award Winning (Dubawi-Hit the Sky, by Cozzene) who was consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment on behalf of John Gosden's Clarehaven Stables. A winner of 1 of her 3 starts, Award Winning is a half-sister to the Group winning trio of Royal Bench, Mayhem and Memphis Tennessee. She was knocked down to Blandford Bloodstock’s Tom Goff for 350,000 guineas. "She is a for an Irish client, who has been talking about buying a Dubawi filly for a long time" said Goff. "She has a fantastic page and a great outcross pedigree. We have followed this filly for a while, she is a winner, rated 80 and we are delighted to get her." Just two lots earlier Goff also secured the Galileo filly C'Est Ca for 320,000 guineas. Also consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment, the 3YO filly is out of the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes winner AZ Warrior and is a sister to the Listed winning filly Key To My Heart.
