Change of Tactics for Eminent

Thursday, 12th July 2018

UK Trainer Martyn Meade has decided to drop Eminent back in trip for Saturday's Summer Mile Stakes at Ascot in an effort to kick-start his season, reports Sky Sports. The blue blooded Eminent, who races in Sir Peter Vela's famous Pencarrow Stud colours, has put in two disappointing performances this campaign after showing a stack of promise in his 3YO season, including a win in the Gr3 Craven Stakes and a fourth in the English Derby. "He's had a couple of disappointing runs this season, so I think we'll try a new tactic with him," said Meade. "It's an absolute mystery because he's perfectly fine at home, it's all a bit baffling to me. I think the drop in trip might just help his confidence, or maybe even my confidence as well, really, and we'll maybe ride him a bit different." By Frankel, Eminent is out of the Gr1-placed You'll Be Mine (Kingmambo), herself a daughter of Gr1 Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine Quarter Moon who was also multiple Gr1-placed in the Irish 1000 Guineas, English Oaks and Irish Oaks.
