El Dorado Tracking Nicely for Spring
Trainer Ben Smith has provided an update on the progress of Group 1 winning filly El Dorado Dreaming (Ilovethiscity-Solanas, by Zabeel). The rising 3YO, who was a surprise 100-1 winner of the Group 1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) in the autumn, is being prepared for an ambitious spring campaign commencing with the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes and Group 1 Flight Stakes in Sydney, before the Group 1 Thousand Guineas, Group 1 Cox Plate, and the Group 1 VRC Oaks in Melbourne. She will make her seasonal reappearance in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on 16 September. "She's done terrific. She actually had her first piece of pace work this morning [Tuesday] and came through that with flying colours. Mentally she is a lot more mature and I'm very happy with her," Smith told Sky Sports Radio. "We've mapped out a five run preparation with her. She will kick off in the Tea Rose into the Flight Stakes, and then we will head to Melbourne. We are going to nominate her for the Cox Plate too, so she could go fourth-up into the Cox Plate and then fifth-up in the Oaks." El Dorado Dreaming hasn't raced since her fast-finishing third in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on 21 April. "She got held up in the Champagne and I think if she got a clear run she would have been right in the finish," said Smith. "That proved to us that she is at up to that elite level after winning the Sires' Produce at 100-1."
