Saxon On Collision Course With Enable
High class colt Saxon Warrior will be dropped in trip for next month's Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes (2000m) setting up a potential clash with superstar filly Enable, reports Racing Post. The Aidan O'Brien-trained Saxon Warrior was sent out as favourite for last Saturday's Group 1 Irish Derby at The Curragh, but could only manage third behind the Australian-owned Latrobe over the classic mile-and-half distance. The performance persuaded O'Brien that Saxon Warrior is probably most effective over shorter distances. The Japanese-bred colt's two Group 1 victories have been in the Racing Post Trophy and 2,000 Guineas, both run over a mile. "It was always in the back of our minds to bring him back in trip and now we are definitely going to do that," O'Brien said. "He seemed fine this morning and is going to have a short break before going to York and then on to Leopardstown." Enable, the reigning European Horse of the Year, is expected to return in the Juddmonte ahead of a defence of her Arc title in October.
