At the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Rich Hill Stud's 5-time Gr1 winning stallion Jimmy Choux (Thorn Park) added a Group race success when talented 3YO New Zealand-bred gelding The Bostonian (Jimmy Choux-Keepa Cheval, by Keeper) continued his purple patch of form when running out a strong winner of the $125,000 Gr3 Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) for 3YOs, defeating Bold Assassin & Go Dixie. The Bostonian, who is unbeaten in his three Queensland winter starts, improved his record to 6 wins (including the Listed Daybreak Lover, Listed El Roca-Sir Colin Meads Trophy) and 1 placing from 9 starts for $271,526 in earnings. The Bostonian is bred to be special as his dam, Keepa Cheval, is a half-sister to 8-time Group 1 winner and two-time NZ Horse of the Year, Mufhasa. Trainer Tony Pike said The Bostonian will be spelled immediately ahead of a spring campaign. "It's a step up to go to Sydney or Melbourne but he's done what we wanted so he deserves his chance," Pike said.
