At the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, former Arrowfield Stud and now Blue Gum Farm Gr1-winning stallion Manhattan Rain (Encosta de Lago- Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) added a stakes race success when 5YO Australian-bred mare Jamaican Rain (Manhattan Rain-Heriz, by Redoute's Choice) proved a class above her rivals when letting down with a terrific turn of foot to score an easy win in the $175,000 Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) for 3YO+, defeating Privlaka & River Racer. Bevan Laming, father of trainer Richard Laming, said Jamaican Rain could be aimed at Group 1 races in the spring. "She's top class on wet tracks and we think she's good enough for the (Group 1) Myer Classic in the spring," Laming said. "She's only been here three weeks but she'll stay on for the Tatt's Mile in three weeks."
