Feb Return for Top Sprinter

Friday, 22nd December 2017

Redzel will open his autumn campaign in Melbourne on 17 February, reports racenet. The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Redzel (Snitzel-Millrich, by Rubiton) established himself as the pre-eminent sprinter in Australia last season stringing together six consecutive wins, including in the inaugural The Everest and Group 1 victories in the Darley Classic and Doomben 10,000. "I'm really happy with the horse," Peter Snowden said. "He looks in fantastic order. He's spelled really well while he was out and he's come back fresh and clearly enjoyed his break." Snowden added: "He's on target for a return in the Lightning Stakes at Flemington where of course he's now the horse to beat. He continued to improve throughout the last preparation and we're excited to see what's in store for him this time in." Redzel's primary target is the $2.5 million Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on 7 April.
