Highly Recommended to Cambridge Stud
Promising young stallion Highly Recommended (Fastnet Rock-Suggestive, by Al Hareb) will join the Cambridge Stud roster next season. Edwina Morris of Berkley Stud, where Highly Recommended has hitherto stood, commented: "We were approached to stand Highly Recommended at Cambridge Stud and we believe that this decision is in the stallion's best future interests. We retain an ownership interest in him and will fully support him in the coming seasons." The son of champion sire Fastnet Rock has had a flying start to his stallion career siring some smart types including Hong Kong bound Gr2 winner Sumstreetsumwhere, dual stakes winner Waldorf, Gr2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes and Gr1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes placegetter Joyfilly, and Listed Wanganui Guineas runner-up Kirkland. Highly Recommended served 140 mares this season from his South Island base and last season was second on the New Zealand First Season Sire table. "This sire line of Danehill and Fastnet Rock is the most pre-potent and successful thoroughbred line in the southern hemisphere," said incoming Cambridge Stud CEO Henry Plumptre. "The future for this promising young sire is exciting." Trained by Peter Moody, Highly Recommended's biggest win came in the 2012 Gr2 Alister Clark Stakes where he defeated subsequent VRC Derby winner Sangster and AJC Derby winner Ethiopia. Bred by Turangga Stud, he is by former champion Australian sire Fastnet Rock out of the good producer Suggestive, dam of 5 stakes winners including Gr1 Emirates Stakes-winning mare Sky Cuddle.
