Gr2 Target for Royal Success

Thursday, 21st December 2017

Royal Success is likely to have his next start in the Gr2 Rich Hill Mile at Ellerslie on New Year's day, reports theinformant.co.nz. The Te Akau Racing-owned 5YO opened his stakes account when scoring a narrow win in the Gr3 J Swap Contractors Sprint (1400m) at Te Rapa last weekend. "It was great for the owners, who have been so patient," co-trainer Jamie Richards said. "It was a very rewarding result for our staff and the team at home as well, he's a horse who's had his fair share of issues and a lot of work has gone into him. It was great to see." Richards added: "At this stage he'll head to Ellerslie for the Rich Hill Mile on New Year's Day. Then we'll work it out from there." Royal Success (Savabeel-Royal Show, by Deputy Governor) also holds big race entries in the Gr1 Thorndon Mile at Trentham on 20 January and the Gr1 Herbie Dyke Stakes (2000m) at Te Rapa on 10 February.
