At Launceston in Tasmania, Gee Gee Horse Stud's Gr3-winning stallion Wordsmith (Testa Rossa-Way With Words, by Yeats) added a black-type success when 5YO Australian-bred mare Gee Gees Top Notch (Wordsmith-Himstedt, by Danehill Dancer) scored a determined win in the Listed Tasmanian Stakes (1600m) for 3YO+, defeating Geegees Goldengirl & Hellova Street. A homebred for prominent local owner/breeders Paul and Elizabeth Geard, Gee Gees Top Notch improved her record to 10 wins (including the Listed Elwick Stakes) and 13 placings (including the Listed TTC Tasmanian Guineas & Listed TTC Conquering Stakes) from 37 starts for $356,000 in earnings.
