Smart Mare Sidelined

Wednesday, 20th December 2017

Talented Kiwi mare Let Her Rip has been sent for extended break but will be back on the stakes trail next year, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Rip Van Winkle 5YO was sent to the paddock after suffering a bleeding attack during last Saturday's Gr2 Cal Isuzu Stakes (1600m) at Te Rapa. "She'll have the mandatory three month stand down and hopefully we'll have another crack at black type in the autumn," Shaune Ritchie said. "She'll be going to stud in the spring and she's a Group Three winner so any more black type will be great." Let Her Rip (Rip Van Winkle-Keeper Special, by Keeper), who was purchased by Ritchie for $41,000 at the 2014 NZB Select Yearling Sale, is a winner of 5 of her 21 starts highlighted by the Gr3 Rotorua Stakes (1400m) at Arawa Park in May.
