QLD Juveniles Signal Boom Times Ahead
Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland Association (TBQA) President Basil Nolan is predicting exciting times ahead for the Queensland breeding industry, reports Racing Queensland. "We witnessed an amazing effort by Eureka Stud's first season sire and former Queensland Champion galloper Spirit of Boom on Saturday with two juveniles winning two stakes races," Nolan said. "I can't remember the last time a First Season sire had two Listed winners before Christmas." The stakes double began with Ef Troop scoring a brilliant win in the Listed Phelan Ready Stakes (1110m), before Outback Barbie made an auspicious debut with an impressive win in the Listed Galaway Gal Stakes (1110m). Both horses are trained by Tony Gollan, who guided their sire to national success and a cult following alongside his brother Temple of Boom. Gollan described the undefeated EF Troop as the best 2YO he has ever trained. "Yes, he is by far the best. He is a very good colt," he said. Nolan said there were promising times ahead for Spirit of Boom. "Congratulations to Tony Gollan, Scott McAlpine and all the team at Eureka, this is a great result for the Queensland breeding industry and I'm confident there's big things ahead," he said. Dual Gr1 winner Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo-Temple Spirit, by Special Dane) is standing his fourth season at Eureka Stud at a fee of $11,000 (inc. GST).
