Malaguerra Out of Autumn

Tuesday, 19th December 2017

Top sprinter Malaguerra (Magnus-Tennessee Morn, by Bletchingly) will miss the autumn due to injury, reports racing.com. The dual Group 1 winner is still recovering after injuring his legs in the Gr1 Darley Classic in November. Trainer Peter Gelagotis said the 6YO could be back in time for the winter carnival in Brisbane, but was more likely to be out until next spring. "He slightly strained both front suspensory ligaments, one more so than the other but very mildly," Gelagotis said. "He's in a rehab phase at the moment but is recovering well. We've just got to persevere with the rehab for another month to six weeks and then give him a short break and he'll be right to go." Gelagotis added: "We'll miss the autumn but he might be able to venture to Brisbane and if not we'll bite the bullet and bring him back for the spring."
