Aquis Farm Acquires Stallion Prospect Spieth

Tuesday, 19th December 2017

Aquis Farm has announced that it has acquired prodigiously talented sprinter Spieth as a stallion prospect. The lightly raced Spieth (Thorn Park-Stella Livia, by Titus Livius) has shown enormous promise in his relatively short career to date, winning 5 of his 16 starts including the Listed Lightning Handicap. He has also been twice placed at Group 1 level, namely in the Lightning Stakes (1000m) and Darley Classic (1200m). A decision on whether to continue racing Spieth or retire him to stud will be made following a spell. "There is no leaning either way at this early stage. We'll give him a break and reassess from there," Aquis Farm CEO Shane McGrath said. "He's an outcross, has speed and is an outstanding individual. He's a 10 out of 10 physically and went within a lip of being a Group One winner." McGrath added: "Race credentials are one thing but physical presence is another and that's what you want to see. If he produces yearlings that look like himself he'll make a commercial stallion."
