Zhukova Sells for 3.7 Million Guineas
Group 1-winning Irish mare Zhukova commanded the second highest sale price on day two of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale on Tuesday when knocked down to Anthony Stroud for 3.7 million guineas. She will be mated with Darley's world-class champion sire Dubawi. "She is a Grade 1 winner and out of a Group 1 winner," said Stroud. "She is a very nice filly and is logical fit for Dubawi." Bred and trained by Dermot Weld, Zhukova (Fastnet Rock-Nightime, by Galileo) won 7 of her 13 starts highlighted by her brilliant 6 length win in the Gr1 Man o' War Stakes (11 furlongs) at Belmont in the US earlier this year. The 5YO Zhukova is out of the Irish 1000 Guineas winner Nightime (Galileo) who has also produced Irish stakes-placed filly Sleeping Beauty.
