Peters Four-Handed in Kingston Town
Royal Star has gained a surprise start in Saturday's $1 million Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at Ascot, reports the West Australian. A winner of the Listed Natasha Stakes in March, Royal Star (Redoute's Choice-Star Encounter, by Jeune) was elevated into the field after Racing and Wagering WA received only 15 final acceptors, one short of the maximum. The 4YO's inclusion boosts the winning chances of prominent local owner Bob Peters who now has four horses in the race, namely Royal Star, Perfect Jewel, Cosmic Storm, and Silverstream. "I didn't think Royal Star would get in," Peters said. "But she's ready to show her best after pulling up well on Saturday. She had difficulty getting clear and was unlucky. William [Pike] blamed himself for the defeat." Peters added: "Jarrad Noske will take over on Royal Star and William is staying with Perfect Jewel. Glenn Smith has been booked for Cosmic Storm and Brad Parnham is Silverstream's new rider." Royal Star is coming off a second placing behind La Mouline in last weekend's WATC Tourism WA Trophy Handicap over 1400m.
