Increases Across Board at Tattersalls Foal Sale
There were rises across all key indicators at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale following a final session on Saturday that saw 167 lots sell for 3,534,200 guineas. That took the four-day turnover to 32,668,200 guineas for the 742 lots sold, a rise of 7%. The average rose 7% to a record 44,027 guineas whilst the median rose 19% to a record equalling 25,000 guineas. The top price during the final session was 110,000 guineas for the Iffraaj filly out of Arabian Mirage (Oasis Dream) - Lot 1150. Consigned by Simon Sweeting’s Overbury Stud, the filly was purchased by Norris/Huntingdon as a pinhook prospect and matches the top price at this session last year. Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented on the sale: “The correlation between the yearling market and the foal market is well established and the record breaking Tattersalls October Yearling Sale has been matched by an equally dynamic Tattersalls December Foal Sale. This week’s sale has achieved increases across the board and cemented the reputation of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale as the premier fixture of its kind in Europe."
