New Stakes Race for Hawkesbury

Tuesday, 31st October 2017

The Hawkesbury Race Club has added another stakes race to its feature Saturday stand-alone program, reports racingnsw.com.au. The program, which already boasts the Gr3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m), Gr3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) and Gr3 Godolphin Crown (1300m), will now also feature the $125,000 Hawkesbury Gold Rush (1100m) after the Australian Pattern Committee upgraded the race to Listed status. "The Gold Rush is deserving of black type status, and no doubt the quality of sprinters it attracts will continue to get better as a result of this decision," said Hawkesbury Race Club chief executive Greg Rudolph. "The upgrade also lifts the status of our stand-alone race meeting and a stronger field for next year's race will generate greater wagering turnover overall." Hawkesbury's 2018 stand-alone meeting will be run on 28 April.
